General Nursing Midwifery

GNM is the short form of General Nursing and Midwifery. GNM is a three years diploma course designed for aspirants who want to pursue a career in the health sector. This program is designed by the State Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council. The curriculum design of the course varies from university to university and State Nursing Council but the total syllabus are same for GNM.  GNM courses are designed to prepare the students for the clinical approach of handling patients. The curriculum of the Indian Nursing Council includes a six-month internship at the end of the course and the diploma is granted only after the candidates complete this internship.

Eligibility Criteria –

  1. Should have passed class 12 in any stream like Science, Arts, and Commerce with English and must have a minimum of 40% score.
  2. Any recognized state board or vocational course class 12 under any state government in India or CBSE or Central Board or State Open School recognized by the State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by the Central Government.
  3. Should have passed class 12 with English securing 40 per cent in aggregate in vocational ANM course from any Institute recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  4. West Bengal Nursing Council has started a Compulsory NEET examination for GNM Nursing admission 2023 through counselling in different colleges in West Bengal. So students must qualify for the examination for GNM admission in West Bengal.
